The Snow Leopard is a spectacular morph of the standard Leopard Tortoise. Through selective breeding, the dark pigments are drastically reduced, leaving a shell that is predominantly creamy white to pale ivory, punctuated by sparse, high-contrast black spots. This "Snow" effect makes them one of the most visually striking tortoises available today.

The White Phenomenon

Monochromatic Art

While normal Leopards are a mix of yellow and heavy black blotching, the Snow Leopard reverses this. The base color is a pristine bone-white or cream, and the black markings are reduced to fine speckles or thin rings. As they grow, the white areas expand, creating a breathtaking "ghostly" appearance that stands out in any collection.

High Demand Morph

High White or Snow Leopards are not distinct subspecies but rather the result of rigorous line breeding. Because they are harder to produce than normal Leopards, they command a significantly higher market price. Their unique look ensures they remain a top-tier investment reptile that holds its value well.

Sensitive Beauty

  • Environment: They require a warm, dry environment but are susceptible to respiratory infections if kept cold and damp. Night temps should not drop below 20°C.
  • Diet: Strictly high fiber. Grasses and hay (Timothy/Orchard) should make up 70% of the diet to prevent loose stools and ensure smooth growth.
  • Sunlight: Essential for shell development and maintaining their vibrant white color without browning.

Genetic Selection

Our Snow Leopards come from bloodlines specifically selected for hypomelanism (reduced black pigment). This is a polygenic trait, meaning by breeding the whitest parents, we consistently produce offspring with cleaner, brighter shells. They are not Albinos (they have dark eyes), making them hardier against UV light.
